Shaping Tomorrow’s Learners, Today

At EmpowerEd Growth & Guidance, the focus is on supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—through a personalized and compassionate approach.

Founded by a licensed special education teacher, EmpowerEd was created to provide individualized support that goes beyond traditional tutoring. Each session is thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are, helping them strengthen academic skills while also building confidence, independence, and resilience.

With experience working with students of varying ages and abilities, services are tailored to support both learning and personal growth. Whether a student needs targeted academic instruction, support with organization and focus, or guidance navigating challenges, sessions are structured to feel supportive, engaging, and achievable.

EmpowerEd offers:

  • Individualized tutoring and academic support

  • Social and emotional mentoring

  • Small group sessions that encourage collaboration and peer connection

  • Parent consultation, including guidance on IEPs and effective learning strategies

When available, equine-assisted learning will provide a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to build confidence, connection, and emotional awareness in a calm, supportive environment. More information to follow.

EmpowerEd is committed to creating a space where students feel understood, capable, and motivated—because meaningful progress begins with confidence.

Hi! My name is Erica Watson

I am a licensed special education teacher currently working in a middle school setting in the Lehigh Valley, where I support students with a wide range of learning needs. My path into education began in the non-profit and social services fields, where I spent several years working closely with children and families. That experience continues to shape my approach today—grounded in connection, understanding, and meeting each child where they are.

Over the past 10+ years, I have worked with students with diverse needs, including autism, emotional and behavioral challenges, learning disabilities, and executive functioning difficulties. I am trained in trauma-informed practices and inclusive teaching, and I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel safe, capable, and understood.

In my current role, I support students academically while also collaborating with families, developing IEPs, and working alongside general education teachers to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed. I have also helped connect families with community resources and supported students in building skills that improve both academic performance and school engagement.

I earned my bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and later received my Master’s in Education and Special Education certification (K–12) from Cedar Crest College.

Outside of education, I spend much of my time caring for my dogs and working with horses. This passion has inspired my goal of expanding EmpowerEd to include equine-assisted learning opportunities that support confidence, connection, and personal growth.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: strong, positive relationships are essential to a child’s growth. When students feel supported and understood, they are more willing to take risks, build skills, and grow into confident, independent learners.
